ArtBreak™ is based on the Expressive Therapies Continuum, a theoretical framework for engaging the expressive and integrative potential of creativity through the use and properties of visual art. During the summer of 2011, Dr. Katherine Ziff facilitated ArtBreak groups at two Public Libraries (The Plains and McArthur) for children age 5-8.

These projects support development of cognitive skills, such as problem-solving, engagement and persistence, envisioning, observation, reflection and evaluation. The goal of the groups was to strengthen skills that help bridge through the summer into the new school year. They are also a key component of our family strengthening initiatives.
