IPAC PROJECT LAUNCH NEWS:
* The third annual state/local LAUNCH joint council meeting was held on Monday, June 3rd, 2013 in Logan, Ohio. Over 59 professionals from our local and state LAUNCH councils attended. Our Federal Program Officer from SAMHSA, Andrea Harris attended from Washington D.C. and deemed the meeting a great success.
*The next local LAUNCH meeting will be held at the Pomeroy Library in Meigs County Ohio on Wednesday, August 7th from 2:30pm-4pm. All state council members are welcome to attend.
*Dawn Graham is currently meeting with several local agencies to secure the year 5 LAUNCH proposal to submit to ODH in July 2013. Plans towards sustainability remain a strong focus in the final year of Project LAUNCH.
* On Wednesday, August 14th, David Zidar, LISW-S will offer a full day of training on trauma treatment entitled, "Community Intervention with Children Who Suffer Trauma" for local health and school professionals in the four-county region.
*A group of 21 health professionals will attend a two-day workshop learning policy, practice, and procedures focused on the integration of behavioral health into primary care at the Cherokee Health Systems Center in Knoxville, TN in September, 2013.
*An article written by Dr. Ben Bates of the LAUNCH communications team was published in the journal, Health Promotion Practice. The article is entitled, "Examining Antecedents of Caregiver's Access to Early Childhood Developmental Screening: Implications for Campaigns Promoting Use of Services in Appalachian Ohio." Dr. Bates presented the results of his findings in London this June.
