General Info

Integrating Professionals for Appalachian Children (IPAC) has existed since 2002 and gained nonprofit charity status in 2006. The network is comprised of multiple agencies in the Southeast Ohio region, including several Ohio University departments and clinics. Representatives from member organizations and participating agencies meet regularly to share how they identify and assess health risks in early childhood and forge new collaborations in meeting health and wellness needs for Appalachian children and their families with direct care coordination and services.

IPAC is a recipient of the Distinguished Rural Health Program Award from the Ohio Department of Health and has been the supporter of Project LAUNCH, Linking Actions for Unmet Needs in Children's Health, a grant administered nationwide by the federal Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. The organization's efforts have focused on improving the health delivery system in the region and adding standardized screening in pediatrics, integrating behavioral health into both primary care and public preschools, establishing a local interdisciplinary assessment team in partnership with Nationwide Children's Hospital, supporting the development of a regional Family Navigator Program and most recently, with funding from the Governors Office of Health Transformation, advancing the implementation of the Pathways Program to provide care coordination services to ensure healthy outcomes for pregnant women and children.
